President

Bradley has been a member of the Walker County school board since 2008 and became AASP president in December 2023 following a one-year appointed term as president-elect. He previously served as District 7 director. Brad, a supervisor at Drummond Co., Inc., has served on numerous AASB committees and task forces.

President-Elect

Rev. Russell Clausell has been a member of the Geneva City School Board since 2015 and currently serves as board president. He served as AASB's District 3 Director from December 2020 to December 2023, before his appointment to serve as president-elect. Russell is a pastor and a U.S. veteran of the U.S. Army (retired).

Immediate Past President

Mary has been a member of the Macon County school board since 2010. In addition to previously serving as AASB District 4 Director and AASB President, she has served on numerous AASB committees. Mary served as AASB president from December 2022 - December 2023, after a one-year appointed term as president-elect.

District 1 Director

Ann was appointed to serve as District 1 Director in June 2021 and began her first full elected term in December 2022. She has been a member of the Brewton school board since 2016. Ann has reached Level 3 in AASB's School Board Member Academy.

District 2 Director

Camille has been a member of the Bibb County school board since 2020 and currently serves as board president. She became AASB's District 2 director in December 2023. Camille is employed by the Bibb Medical Center, where she is a RN/COO.

District 3 Director

Melanie has been a member of the Dothan City school board since 2021. She was appointed in December 2023 to fill the vacant District 3 Director seat. She currently works as the southeast Alabama field rep. for U.S. Sen. Katie Britt.

District 4 Director

Matilda Woodyard-Hamilton has served on the Tallapoosa County Board of Education since 2006. She has reached the Master Honor Roll level in AASB's School Board Member Academy and is a 2021 All-State School Board Award recipient.

District 5 Director

Derek serves as vice president of the Alabaster school board, where he has been a member since 2013. He has served on AASB's Budget & Finance and Nominating Committees and is a current trustee for the Alabama Trust for Boards of Education.

District 6 Director

Scott has been a member of the St. Clair County school board since 2001 and currently serves as board president. He was elected to serve his first term as AASB District 6 director in 2021. Scott is a 2021 recipient of AASB's prestigious All-State School Board Member Award.

District 7 Director

Randy has been a member of the Tuscaloosa County school board since 2016 and became AASB's District 7 director in December 2022. Randy has served on AASB's Advocacy Committee..

District 8 Director

Jimmy has been a member of the Morgan County school board since 2020 and currently serves as board president. He was appointed as District 8 Director in December 2020 before being elected to his first full term in 2021. Jimmy is employed by GE Appliances.

District 9 Director

Lessmann has been a member of the Madison City school board since she was appointed in 2020 and was named AASB District 9 director in November 2022. She was elected to serve her first full term as District 9 Director in December 2022. Alice is a member of AASB's 2022 Board Training Advisory Committee and has achieved Level 3 in the School Board Member Academy.

State BOE Liaison

Dr. Tonya Chestnut was elected as the District 5 State Board of Education member in November 2020. She is the state board liaison on the AASB Board of Directors. Chestnut is a veteran educator with more than 30 years of instructional and administrative experience.

Executive Director

Sally joined AASB’s staff in 1986 and previously served as assistant executive director, director of public relations, director of communications and director of research and special projects. She was promoted to executive director in June 2007. She manages the association’s affairs, directs legislative efforts, advises the AASB membership and oversees efforts to build public support for schools. The executive director serves as secretary and treasurer of the AASB Board of Directors.
