Alice Lessmann has been a member of the Madison City school board since 2020 and was appointed to fill a vacancy as AASB District 9 director in November 2022, before being elected to her first full term in December 2022. She has reached Level 3 in the AASB School Board Member Academy. Alice has served on the AASB Board Training Advisory Committee and has participated in many AASB advocacy events.

She is the Chief Executive Officer of Signalink Inc., a small business specializing in Technical Services, Engineering, and Systems Integration within Federal markets. Headquartered in Madison, Alabama, Signalink was named the 2020 Best Government Contracting Technology Business by the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce, and the 2019 Best Business of the Year and Best Professional Services Business of the Year for the Madison Chamber of Commerce. Alice received the 2021 Catalyst Center for Business and Entrepreneurship’s Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  

A native of the Huntsville/Madison area, Alice served 21 years in the Alabama National Guard, retiring as an officer. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She graduated from the Veteran’s Institute of Procurement (VIP GROW) Program, the Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses Program, and has received certifications for Facility Security Officer (FSO) Program Management, ISO 9001 internal auditor, and ISO 9001 management. She and her husband, Steve, have two children. The Lessmann family was honored to be named the 2020 Madison Family of the Year for their community involvement.
