Auburn University’s Center for Opioid Research, Education, and Outreach (COACH), housed in the Harrison College of Pharmacy, works to serve the citizens of Alabama and the region as a recognized leader in advocacy, research, education, and outreach by improving the health and well-being of those impacted by opioids and substance use disorders. Efforts include offering prevention education to children and adolescents across Alabama. As part of the Center’s appropriated funds awarded from the Opioid Settlement Commission Fund, COACH has developed a drug prevention educational curriculum designed to comply with Alabama House Bill 280, the Price Hornsby Act, and recently passed legislation on Vaping. Educational materials and programs are readily available for grades 5-12. K-4 educational materials and programs are slated to roll out during Spring 2026. COACH would love to partner with local school systems across Alabama to ensure Alabama students receive the much-needed education.
