Elected to the Clarke County school board in 2018, Tara Moseley was inspired to serve by a deeply personal motivation— her children. With a strong belief that decisions about local education should be made by those directly impacted, she is committed to ensuring the best for every student and faculty member in Clarke County.

Q: What is your current occupation?
A: I currently serve the City of Jackson as the director of youth sports.
Q: How long have you been on the school board, and what inspired you to join?
A: I was first elected in 2018. I have three children that all attend Clarke County schools, and they were my inspiration. School boards have the tough job of making decisions that shape their school system. I know that I want the best for our students and faculty because my family is part of that system. The thought of someone who isn’t affected making those decisions for my family is frightening.
Q: What excites you most about being a school board member?
A: Knowing that the board members I serve with all want to see our students and faculty excel and give them the resources needed to do so. Clarke County is truly blessed with an amazing superintendent and school board.
Q: What’s one key thing you’ve learned since becoming a board member?
A: Not every decision or outcome is black and white.
Q: Are there any special initiatives or projects you are particularly proud of accomplishing with your board? Anything you’re looking forward to working on with them?
A: We have some much-needed and major projects that we will be completing in the next couple of years. From new roofs and air conditioned gymnasiums to network infrastructure. It has taken strategic planning and hard work starting with the staff at our central office to make all these projects a reality.
Q: What's one piece of advice you would share with an incoming board member?
A: Every decision you make should be about making things better for the students that you represent, not about you and what others think you should do.
Q: What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your role as a board member?
A: All three of my children are actively involved in sports, so most weekends you can find me at a ball field cheering on their teams. I grew up saying I wanted to travel, and now my husband and I get to travel all over the southeast watching our kids play the sports they love.
Q: Finish the sentence. One thing you should know about me is…
A: I’m not everyone's cup of tea, and I’m okay with that.
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote or mantra that keeps you motivated?
A: “Everything in life is easier when you don’t concern yourself with what everybody else is doing.”
