Q: What is your current occupation?

A: I am a land surveyor and construction manager with the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Q: How long have you been on the school board, and what inspired you to join?

A: I’ve been on the school board since December 2022. The opportunity to be a voice for my community is what led me to run for the school board position!

Q: What excites you most about being a school board member?

A: Having the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life and positively impact my community.

Q: What’s one key thing you’ve learned since becoming a board member?

A: Many actions take time to fulfill and execute; it does not just happen overnight. Also, we have a great staff that works hard for the betterment of our system.

Q: Are there any special initiatives or projects you are particularly proud of accomplishing with your board? Anything you’re looking forward to working on together as a team?

A: Our career academy has been highly successful. It has allowed students to learn trades and experience places that they might not have ever gotten the chance to otherwise. I look forward to the continued growth of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs throughout the state and in our district. I also look forward to continuing to work with our board and the community to give more opportunities to students and families.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would share with an incoming board member?

A: This position is a marathon, not a sprint. We must work together as a team and remember it is bigger than just you.

Q: What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your role as a board member?

A: I enjoy farming, spending time with my family and friends, but most of the time you can find me at a ball field. Whether it is softball or volleyball with my daughter; or football, baseball or basketball with my two sons, they keep my wife and I on the go constantly!

Q: Finish the sentence. One thing you should know about me is…

A: I take this position very seriously. I am here to be the voice for the ones that cannot, and I want to see our school system and community flourish.

Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote or mantra that keeps you motivated?

A: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars” and “All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them”
