Dana W. Vandiver

Dana W. Vandiver joined the AASB team in 2016 as director of public relations. She directs all facets of AASB’s marketing efforts, including events management and promoting fee-based services, manages all association communications, including website, social media and specialty publications, and coordinates media relations.

Prior to joining AASB, Dana managed web communications at Alabama State University, where she directed all major web initiatives, including redesigns and special event microsites, and collaborated with marketing and communications staff in the development of various digital and print publications. Dana also worked for the Southern Poverty Law Center, where she wrote for the award-winning Teaching Tolerance magazine, which provides free resources to assist k-12 educators in combating prejudice and promoting equitable and inclusive learning environments.

Dana, a native of Montgomery, Ala., is a graduate of Alabama State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. She is a self-professed news junky who enjoys lively debates about politics and current events, loves cooking, entertaining for holidays and spending time with family and friends. Dana is married to Marcus E. Vandiver, and they have two sons, Wesley and Bryson, and one daughter, Kendall.
