Join us March 5 and 6 at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham - The Wynfrey Hotel for AASB's Spring Academy Core Conference, Leadership for Policy and Planning (6
training hours), with informative sessions to help boards develop policies that raise student achievement, fulfill their responsibilities
and comply with the law. This course emphasizes vital topics for every local board of education such as strategic planning, using technology and keeping
the community informed.
Arrive early and earn extra hours by participating in the early bird workshop, Conflict Ahead: Navigating Difficult Conversations and People (2
training hours), Friday, March 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. Dialogue about sensitive or controversial topics such as inequality, religion or politics can be
challenging, yet these issues frequently make their way into board discussions. Without a clear sense of purpose, these conversations can stray off
course, causing misunderstandings that damage relationships. This interactive session will focus on strategies for engaging in much-needed but often-avoided
conversations in a way that promotes better understanding and preserves relationships.
