Mission Statement:

Helping local education leaders improve student achievement through advocacy for Alabama’s public school students: leadership development and board training; and resources for effective education governance.

AASB is the official voice of the state's local school boards and other boards governing K-12 public education agencies. We are dedicated to improving educational opportunities for all Alabama public school students through the improvement of local lay education governance.

By pooling resources through its membership, AASB provides services which one school board could not economically provide alone. Boardmanship skills training, policy services, risk management programs and practical publications are among the many services provided to AASB members. In addition, AASB represents the interests of its members before the state Legislature, state Board of Education and other state and national agencies.
