68 PIECES OF ARTWORK ENTERED INTO 2010 AASB STUDENT ART COMPETITION
Students from across the state submitted 68 creative entries. The winners will be officially recognized Dec. 4 during the 8:30-10:30 a.m. closing general session of AASB’s Annual Convention at The Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham.
Below are the winners along with what they will receive:
- Judge’s Choice Award (1st place), “The Pride and the Pain of Our People is Great” depicted in photography by Hubbs Bottcher, age 16, grade 10, Athens High School, Athens City Board of Education. Receives framed certificate and $50 gift card.
- Judge’s Choice Award (2nd place), “Perseverance” depicted in oil pastel and colored pencil by Will Bowen, age 18, grade 12, Bob Jones High School, Madison City Board of Education. Receives framed certificate and $50 gift card.
- Judge’s Choice Award (3rd place), “Monologue” depicted in chalk pastel by Joshua Hanson, age 18, grade 12, Bob Jones High School, Madison City Board of Education. Receives framed certificate and $50 gift card.
- AASB Executive Director Award (overall winner), “Saturday, 8:00 A.M.” depicted in watercolor by Beom-Jy Kim, age 18, grade 12, Bob Jones High School, Madison City Board of Education. Receives framed certificate, $50 gift card and a $200 gift card for the classroom.
- AASB Staff Choice Elementary Award (4th place), “Cherry Blossoms” depicted in tempera paint on manila paper by Ke'Amber Ryans, age 9, grade 3, Greensboro Elementary School, Hale County Board of Education. Receives framed certificate and $50 gift card.
- AASB Staff Choice Elementary Award (5th place), “Springtime” depicted in watercolor and pencils by Devon Bowser, age 13, grade 6, W.O. Lance Elementary School, Lanett City Board of Education. Receives framed certificate and $50 gift card.
