New (or relatively new) to school board service or the superintendency?

Leadership II can help you get your legs under you.

A component of AASB's two-part orientation series for new school board members, Leadership II takes you deeper into some of the leadership issues introduced in Leadership I. Starting Thursday at 8:30 a.m., this six-hour AASB School Board Member Academy core course focuses on:

  • Board-superintendent relations
  • School board members' role as education advocates
  • The relationship between school boards and effective schools

It’s designed for those with two years’ or less experience, but it is open to any AASB member looking for a refresher on these important topics. While it's not an orientation for new superintendents, they are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Pre-registration costs and information will be provided soon.

You can still take Leadership II if you haven't taken
Leadership I

You do not have to take Leadership I and II in succession. Leadership II does go into further depth than Leadership I, but the courses are designed to be complements of each other. To gain the most benefit and Academy credit, you will still need to complete Leadership I.

If you have questions, please contact Membership Services Coordinator Debora Hendricks at 800/562-0601.
