AASB's School Board Member Academy brings together nearly 600 school board members and education leaders from across the state for its annual convention.
The three-day event in early December features sponsored breaks and general sessions, an array of clinics on timely topics and exhibits of school products and services.

Clinic proposal forms needed by May 29, 2010.
We are pleased to invite you to submit a proposal to present at our clinics during AASB’s Annual Convention on December 3, 2010, at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. Topics might include programs that have a proven record for improving student achievement, effective board leadership and governance practices, navigating legal issues or using the latest technology to engage students in the classroom. For Novices ...
Leadership II is a component of AASB's two-part orientation series for new school board members and veterans who want a refresher. Leadership II is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. December 2, followed by an 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. session. The date and times may change. This Academy core course focuses on such issues as board-superintendent relations; school board members' role as education advocates; and the relationship between school boards and effective schools.
